Federal Tax ID Number

GSTEF’s federal Tax ID number is still pending

  • The organization needs this number to apply for grants. Grants are needed so that we can provide funds to the tennis instructors who teach in the community. Tax ID number is also needed for donations.
  • Grants will also be used to provide kids with full or partial scholarships for the CTC.

Currently working on obtaining ENC (business/IRS number)

Recap from last year's GSRC fundraiser

Barbara Janoff was a beloved and previous worker at the GSRC pro shop

  • We’re hoping that the family who helped donate funds in order to bring Mats Wilander last year will consider being involved with our fundraiser this year. Their sponsorship was a great help to us and we greatly appreciate them.

Last year, we grossed $15k, netted $10k

  • All the pros donated their time and the tennis lessons that were auctioned off.

Plans for 2011 Fundraiser

This year, tennis pros should not be in the silent auction. Instead, it would be better if they were auctioned in a live auction style. That way, people being auctioned can be involved with banter and thus have more fun.

  • Also, live auction format allows us to throw in bonuses such as a free lunch with the pro’s lessons.
  • We would still have a silent auction, but the silent auction would be used more for gift certificates and smaller items
  • A staff member is attempting to book a professional tennis player who is a top 50 doubles player in the world. This would be great for the exhibition match at the fundraiser.
  • On October 23rd, the Cardio Tennis will be providing a certification workshop at Greenspring. We are looking to have the instructor come the night before (the night of the fundraiser) and warm everyone up before the fundraiser officially begins.
  • Pro-Am – Possibility of having Hopkins varsity tennis players to play with event guests
  • Exhibition - everyone can sit down and watch the game
    • With young tennis talent from United States and Bulgaria
    • Joey can also play a doubles exhibition
    • Bleachers would be set up on the courts for spectators
  • Beer tasting specialist has been booked

Do we need a microphone throughout the whole place?

Think of any Maryland celebrities to invite for the fundraiser

Have a person video record the event?

  • There are up and coming photographers who would provide their time and come to the event. These photographers can also provide photo packages for the silent auction.

Silent auction - good source of advertising for businesses so as to get their names out in the community

How about wine tasting?

  • Lisa will ask surrounding vineyards for interest and possibly corporate sponsorship

Corporate sponsors

  • Have tiered sponsor system (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, lifetime)
  • Car Dealerships that are known would be great for corporate sponsorship

Goal for the fundraiser: 100-150 people

  • $50 - beer tasting, eating, watching
  • $75 to include the above as well as participation in Pro-Am
  • Raffle/door prizes will be offered at the event as well as the silent and live auctions

Need to find silent auction prizes

  • For example, auctioning off birthday party which includes (Wii room, tennis lessons with a professional, and a pizza party)
  • If you get anything signed by athletes (especially for football season), these would be good for the auction
  • Know any business in community who could donate non-tennis auction pieces? We could ask them to donate various things (e.g. hotel rooms, restaurant gift certificates, etc.)
  • Came up with possible sources of donations

GSTEF Issues

Voted on logo – will send this logo to the graphic designer

Community outreach is now being done. Over the summer, we offered after school tennis programs at Warren Elementary School in Cockeysville and at County Home Park. We are happy to continue offering these programs for the fall and spring of this year.

  • During the summer, one of our tennis professionals also gave his time to work with Camp Honeybees, an outreach program provided for autistic children in Cockeysville.

CTC program details

  • Bring in speakers, nutritionists, professionals (who all volunteer their time to come speak with the children)

We are currently developing programs for at-risk kids. These programs will be separate from the CTC.

  • CTC is for those who show tennis promise

The Ladies Open League is also a community program that will be adopted by the GSTEF.
