The GSTEF Mission

Our Vision

Mission - The Green Spring Tennis and Educational Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that promotes the development and growth of tennis for youth and adults in the Baltimore community and surrounding areas. It provides academic tutoring along with tennis education to the area’s underserved youth promoting the ability to excel both academically and athletically in life.

Passion & Teamwork - We are passionate about people and tennis and being a part of a team.

Excellence & Accountability - We deliver the best and we expect the best from one another.

Volunteerism - We give middle and high school students the opportunity to volunteer doing community service.

Outreach & Partnerships - We invest in all parts of our community so that tennis is accessible and enjoyed by all.

Potential & Presence - We look beyond where we are today, seeing a future of unlimited potential and an enduring presence for the sport of tennis.

Relationships - We believe in our vision, mission, and values and are committed to living them out and sharing them, one person and community at a time.

What We Provide for Our Community

Free Adaptive Programming - GSTEF offers specifically tailored programming for groups in our community that are developmentally disabled.  These groups include those with learning disabilities, autism and Down syndrome.

We have a strong partnership with the Special Olympics of Maryland and train the Special Olympic athletes to compete in all levels of tournament play.

Using tennis as an incentive, we capture the attention, interest and potential of the youth and adults who take part in the program. The level of the tennis and the life skills curriculum is tailored to the needs and cognitive abilities, motor and verbal skills of the students.

This programming includes certified tennis instructors who have undergone the proper training to work with developmentally disabled youth and adults.  We utilize the United States Tennis Association’s 10-And-Under format, which uses specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring that is all tailored to each participant’s ability.

GSTEF also works with troubled youth within the juvenile justice system.

GSTEF offers community outreach programs such as the popular USTA adult league play and junior team tennis. These are offered at a low cost.

For enrichment, GSTEF has introduced a new junior girls’ focus group.

Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

GSTEF hosts most of its programs at the Green Spring Racquet Club,

an indoor tennis facility in Lutherville, MD.
